so we meet again...

...and I offer my hand...

Music has always played a deeply profound role in my life. Growing up, music was always playing in our house on record players or 8-track tapes. My grandma was always singing songs and she had a song for everything - even changing a baby's diaper! The sole reason my husband and I met was because of the lyrics of Cure songs. Listening to music, especially live music, is everything. Music calms and centers my brain.

For as long as I can remember, every morning, I wake up with a song playing in my head. It can be something I have heard lately or a snippet of a song from a commercial I heard weeks ago. The song will play on repeat in my head, and I will catch myself singing or humming parts of the song throughout the day.

If you visit my classroom, you will hear instrumental music playing in the background. When I study or read, playing music helps me focus and improves comprehension.

Every post in this blog connects with some kind of musical content. The song quoted above is from one of my all-time favorite songs called Cut Here, by The Cure. The song is about slowing down and taking the time to do all the things before it's too late.

Words by Robert Smith

"if only" is a wish too late...

Through a half-century of life experiences and lost loved ones, it's hard not to reflect on the "if only." I have learned that life is precious. Do all the things before it's too late... Love. Travel. Go to all the Concerts! Have that drink with a friend. Take that time. Dance. Sing. Say "I Love You." Hug. Cry. Learn...
